Understanding Mother Agency Commissions in NETWALK
Discover how NETWALK simplifies Mother Agency commission management, international placements, accounting flows, External Jobs, Moves, and agency statements.
Managing Mother Agency relationships, international placements, and commission flows can quickly become complex, especially when models work across multiple agencies and different markets simultaneously.
NETWALK provides a structured and fully integrated system designed specifically for model and talent agencies, helping teams maintain complete control over:
-
Mother Agency relationships
-
international placements
-
commission tracking
-
accounting flows
-
agency statements and collaboration between agencies
This article provides an overview of how Mother Agency commission management works inside NETWALK.
Defining Agency Relationships

Within each model profile, the Model Agencies section allows agencies to configure all relationships associated with the model.
These relationships are not only informational:
They directly affect the operational and accounting behavior of the system, including:
-
commission calculations
-
statements
-
accounting movements
-
placement reporting
-
billing workflows
NETWALK supports four different relationship types.
Mother Agency
The Mother Agency relationship identifies the official Mother Agency connected to the model.
When the model works on local jobs, the configured Mother Agency commission percentage, for example 10%, is automatically calculated on the model’s activity.
The generated commissions are then transferred directly into the corresponding agency statements.
Other
The Other relationship type allows additional agencies or agents to receive commissions connected to the same model.
Example:
- Mother Agency: 10%
- Additional Agent: 5%
This setup is particularly useful whenever multiple parties are involved in the management or development of the talent.
Placement
The Placement relationship is used to register all agencies where the model is placed internationally.
This allows agencies to maintain a clear overview of:
- international placements
- destination agencies
- market distribution
- active collaborations
Placement relationships also play a key role in reporting and commission follow-up activities.
Represented
When a model is marked as Represented, it means that your agency acts as the direct Mother Agency.
In this case:
- The model does not have an external Mother Agency
- No external agency will receive Mother Agency commissions on local jobs
How Commission Calculations Work

All relationships configured inside the Model Agencies section automatically affect the financial behavior of calendar events and jobs.
For standard local jobs:
- if the model is Represented, no external Mother Agency commissions are generated
- if a Mother Agency is configured, NETWALK automatically allocates the related percentage
- if additional “Other” relationships exist, those commissions are also calculated automatically
All generated commission movements are transferred directly into agency statements, including: positive commissions, negative adjustments, balance updates and accounting synchronization
This allows agencies to maintain a constantly updated financial overview.
External Jobs and Moves
When represented models work through external agencies, NETWALK provides two dedicated event types:
- External Job
- Move
Both event types generate Mother Agency commission movements directly inside agency statements, allowing agencies to manage commission tracking, invoicing, payment monitoring and accounting reconciliation
However, the two event types are designed for different operational workflows.
External Jobs

An External Job is designed for agencies that require highly structured, detailed management of international bookings.
External Jobs can be inserted inside Projects and support a complete booking workflow. In addition, they can be connected to Travels, Accommodations, and other booking-related events allowing advanced organizational and logistical management
This approach is ideal when the agency wants to maintain full visibility over every aspect of the international booking process.
In addition, External Jobs allow agencies to optionally enter the rate the model earns at the destination agency.
Once the rate is entered, NETWALK automatically calculates the Mother Agency commission owed based on the configured percentages.
Moves
A Move is designed to be faster and more immediate.
Moves do not require a full booking structure, are simpler and quicker to insert and focus primarily on commission tracking
They are ideal when detailed operational information is not required
This allows agencies to quickly register placements and expected commissions without having to manage a complete booking workflow.
Flexible Commission Management
Both External Jobs and Moves allow commissions to be entered:
- in advance, when estimated amounts are already known
- or later, once final statements are received from destination agencies
All commissions are automatically transferred into the corresponding agency statements. This ensures that each statement always reflects the updated balance generated through local jobs, placements, External Jobs and Moves
Why NETWALK Supports Both External Jobs and Moves
Different agencies operate in different ways.
Some agencies prefer highly detailed booking management with complete project organization and advanced logistical tracking while others prefer a faster workflows with simplified operations and minimal data entry
By supporting both External Jobs and Moves, NETWALK adapts to different internal processes while maintaining consistent commission tracking and accounting integration.
This flexibility allows agencies to work according to their own operational structure without sacrificing financial control.
Billing Commissions as Mother Agency
Inside Accounting → Billing, NETWALK includes a dedicated tool called:
Billing Commissions as Mother Agency
This section provides three analysis panels designed to simplify commission monitoring and invoicing.
1. Commissions

The Commissions panel displays all Mother Agency commissions owed to your agency within a selected period.
The data is generated from:
- External Jobs
- Moves
where commissions have already been entered. The report groups commissions by agency and allows direct invoice generation for destination agencies.
---
2. Events

The Events panel displays all External Jobs and Moves where commissions have not yet been entered.
This is particularly useful because agencies often do not yet know the final foreign rate and are waiting for statements from destination agencies or have incomplete information at the time the event is created
The Events panel helps identify all bookings for which commissions are expected but are still pending.
3. Placements

The Placements panel analyzes all active Placement relationships between models and agencies.
The report groups models by agency and displays all models currently placed with each destination agency.
This section works independently of calendar events.
Even when no External Job exists, and no commission has yet been entered, a Placement relationship may still indicate that commissions are expected.
For this reason, the Placements panel provides a strategic overview of the agency’s international network and helps teams identify
- agencies from which statements should be requested
- active placements requiring follow-up
- and ongoing international collaborations
This allows agencies to maintain control over placement activity even before commissions are formally registered inside the system.
Built for the Operational Reality of Mother Agencies
Mother Agency management is not only about accounting. It involves relationships, placements, communication between agencies, operational workflows, and long-term financial tracking.
NETWALK was designed to centralize all these aspects inside a single connected environment, helping agencies manage complex international collaborations with greater structure, visibility, and control.
